Short: MSX emulator (v1.4), req. 68020/OS2.0

fMSX Amiga is an Amiga port of fMSX UNIX. It emulates the MSX computer
system. The emulation requires an 68020 and the v36 OS (or better). Fastram
is not required but essential for good performance.
'MSX' is an 8-bit computer system with surprisingly good graphics and sound
capabilities. How does graphic resolutions of up to 512 * 424, up to 256
colors on screen, and 9 channel music sound?
To demonstrate, several MSX pictures (taken from fMSX while running) have
been uploaded to aminet (pix/illu/msx_emu.lha).
MSX1 emulation is slightly slower than a real MSX on my a4000/30. MSX2
emulation is somewhat harder and runs a bit slower. Speed is expected to
increase in further versions.
In this version many new features were implemented, making fMSX a viable
MSX2 emulator. Most importantly, many VDP (the MSX blitter) commands were
rewritten in 680x0 assembler and line interrupts were added. Many MSX2 games
that used to crash work now.
Soundwise, fMSX can now emulate both the PSG and SCC sound chips (for a
total of 9 channels of sound!) through the AHI system by Martin Blom. AHI is
available from Aminet.
The user interface was improved as well. A new window for setting pathes to
system resources was added, as was an ARexx port.
fMSX can now utilize external MSX fonts, and has full Kanji support.
Finally, a great many bugs were solved.
Many games for MSX are available through FTP or WWW. Sitenames can be found
in the documentation.
